Photos from Tried & Tested Triathlon Club, Dungarvan.'s post Every year during the May Bank Holiday weekend Tried and Tested members meet up at Clonea Strand for our first outing as a club. Members young and old don their wetsuits and the very brave only their swimsuits and we take to to sea as a group to welcome the start of the triathlon season.
Unfortunately things are very different this year so in keeping with social distancing guidelines and the 2km exercise limit the club chose 2 charities, Deise Day Care Centre and Pieta House as worthy causes to raise funds for.
Our junior athletes completed stay at home duathlons. The only rules being to have fun and to create fantastic finishlines in their gardens. Dogs, cats and grandparents parked up in cars were called upon to make the events even more special. Massive thanks to Tom Feerick for sponsoring the event and to O'Mahoney Cycles and Bob Troys Cycles for their generous support. Their were no winners on the day but every child received a prize for their fantastic efforts.
Our senior athletes were also called upon to do their bit. A simple photo of members being active over the weekend sufficed as a contribution. Painting and gardening are not to my recollection classed as triathlon training exercises but a weekend of running around gardens with your budding triathletes obviously took their toll on some.
Over 60 juniors and 50 adult members took part over the weekend and as a result the club donated €1000 to both worthwhile charities. Well done everybody, fantastic work.
Even though we can't train together or meet up for weekly activities, by staying apart we have shown we can still come together as a club and do fantastic things!!! ... See more
