Parking

Parking is available close to transition thanks to Casey’s Caravan Park and the Council car park. Please follow all Marshal instructions. Please respect the car park and Marshals – No Littering

Note that the Council Public Parking will be closed until the run route is complete.


Dungarvan Triathlon – Swim

  • Place yourself at the start relative to your swimming capability, strong swimmers towards the front and weaker or anxious swimmers to the back
  • If you need assistance or need to retire, stay calm, lie on your back and raise a clenched fist to signal the the water teams that you need help.
  • If you are removed from the water, your timing chip will not be removed, but you will have to inform the Head Swim Marshall of your number so you cannot be further included in the competition. We will however let you finish the event.
  • Wetsuit and swim cap is mandatory

Bike Preparation:

  • BIKE CHECK: All bikes will be checked for roadworthiness before then can be brought into transition. If your bike is deemed unsafe, you will be asked to remedy the faults. Unsafe bikes will not be permitted to race and no refunds will be accommodated.
  • CHECK LIST: 2 working brakes, correct tyre pressure,. spares for repairs, handlebar end plugs. Standard rear wheel for those using disc wheels in the event of very windy conditions. Helmet must be CE approved, closing tightly with head straps meeting below the ear. A check will be performed by a bike check marshall.
  • REMINDER: It is essential that you have your helmet on and clipped prior to un-racking your bike in the transition aread and only remove it after you have racked your bike in the transition area on completion of the cycle.
  • TRANSITION NOTE: No nudity is permitted in the Transition Area

Bike Course:

  • SAFETY: The course is fully on public roads so the normal rules of the road apply.
  • Clonea Roundabout about 1.9km into the Bike course will be a NO RACE zoneas we have had a number of issues before with cyclists not obeying the rules of the road. There will be a Garda presence at the roundabout. You may face potential disqualification if the rules of the road are not obeyed.
  • Strictly NO DRAFTING is allowed. The course is Marshalled and penalties will apply for infringements.
  • DISTANCES: Olympic Distance 42km. Sprint Distance 23km.

Dungarvan Triathlon – Run

  • SAFETY: The run is on open roads and paths. Stay on the path as much as possible.
  • When on the road, run on the right-hand side. You will be guided by the marshals
  • There is a water point at the Gold Coast Hotel for Sprint and Olympic races. An additional water point at the start of the second lap may be provided, dependant on weather conditions.
  • You must obey the instructions of the Marshals.
  • DISTANCE: 5.6km for Sprint, 10.6km for Olympic.
  • FINISH LINE: Finish Line will be in the field beside Gordon’s Cafe
  • TIMING CHIPS: Must be returned at the finish line.

Olympic – Run

Olympic run will be 2 laps of the Sprint distance.

POST RACE DETAILS:

  • Refreshments will be provided in the field beside Gordon’s cafe including a water station.
  • All competitors will receive a voucher at registration for a complimentary tea or coffee and ice cream at Gordon’s shop.
  • Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd Open and Female prizes will be awarded.
  • Prize giving will start shortly after the run has been completed.
  • Medals will be awarded to all competitors completing the race.
