Club Information
Tried and Tested Triathlon Club, based in County Dungarvan Co.Waterford, provides sporting activities and opportunities for young people through participation in this clubs activities and events. 

Principals to safeguard children from harm
Tried and Tested Triathlon Club  is committed to safeguarding children and by working under the guidance of Triathlon Ireland’s Safeguarding Policies our staff, both volunteers and employed, working with our young people, throughout the organisation, seek to create a safe environment for young people to grow and develop within triathlon. The following set of principles should be adhered to; importance of childhood, the needs of the child, integrity in relationships, fair play, quality atmosphere & ethos, competition and equality.

Procedures
This Child Safeguarding statement was developed in line with requirements under the Children First Act 2015( The Children First: National Guidance, and TUSLA’S Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice and in line with the National Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Children and the Department of Health ‘Co-operating to Safeguard Children and Young People in Northern Ireland’ and the Children (NI) Order 1995. In addition to our risk assessment Tried and Tested Triathlon Club have further procedures adopted from Triathlon Ireland that support our intention to safeguard young people while they are availing of activities with Tried and Tested Triathlon Club .

  • Procedures for reporting of child protection or welfare concerns to Statutory authorities.
  • Procedures for the safe recruitment of staff and volunteers.
  • Procedures for the management of allegations of abuse or misconduct by staff or volunteers against a child availing of our activities.
  • Procedure for appointing a Club Children’s Officer.
  • Policy regarding safeguarding training.

Implementation
Implementation of our Safeguarding policies is an ongoing process. Tried and Tested TC is committed to the implementation of this Child Safeguarding Statement and the policies and procedures that support our intention to keep children safe from harm while availing of our activities.  This statement is published on our club website and has been provided to all club members and is readily available on request. This statement will be reviewed on the (insert date < 24months- must be updated sooner if personnel change).
